What YOU can do at The GAIN Centre
  • Apply for Employment Insurance (EI)
  • Access Birth Certificate applications, Social Insurance Number (SIN) applications, Canada Revenue Agency Income Tax forms, Income Security Program information and some forms, Passport applications, Child Tax Benefit
  • Access to resource computers, photocopier and fax for resume preparation
  • Receive individual assistance with job search and career development with an employment counsellor
  • Attend employment preparation workshops
  • Get information and referrals on training opportunities
  • Health card renewal, or replacement monthly (by appointment only)
  • Access Job Bank and the Internet
  • Receive individual employment services and skills development for people with disabilities and/or barriers
  • Service Canada Satellite Office - Every Tuesday & Wednesday 9 - 12  and 1 - 3:00 pm. 
    Additional services will include
    • processing of replacement SIN application $10 (Debit only)
    • processing of first time SIN applications (no cost)
    • CPP, Employment Insurance inquires, pleasure craft license, etc...

June 29 - July 30/09 - Monday - Thursday  - 8:30am - 12:30pm
For lesson pick up/drop off and book exchange. There will be no counseling services available during this time
July 31 - August 28/09 - Closed
Business Certificates
Students may earn credits for a certificate in one of three areas:
Accounting   -  Computer Skills  -  Business Skills
The benefits of these certificates are to gain business knowledge, add to your portfolio, use during interviews or use as an extra.
PRE PSW Prep
This is available through Gateway to Learning program for students that need to upgrade their skills prior to taking the Personal Support Worker course. 
Basic Computer  Classes
Learn basic computer skills 3 afternoons during the week from 12:30 - 3:30 pm (continuous entry). Evening classes are offered twice a year on Monday and Wednesday nights.
English as a Second Language
Evening Classes (Mon & Wed) are available during the school year.  These classes are small and open to anyone over 18.
Special Interest Courses
Safe Food Handling and First Aid and CPR courses are offered periodically throughout the year. Please watch for signs or call the school for details.

Gateway To Learning

The Gateway to Learning program offers FREE education to ADULTS ONLY. If your goal is to refresh your basic skills in preparation for moving forward to either furthering your education or obtaining employment, this program is available at the Strathroy Adult Learning Centre (SALC). The goal is to help adult learners return to work, school or pass the GED test.

The Gateway to Learning program will help to refresh and update your reading, writing and math skills so you are well prepared and more confident in your ability to move forward in your goals. The focus is on reading, writing and math and includes basic computer instructions for those unfamiliar with computers.

If you have been laid off work and you are trying to find your way back into the economy you may need to refresh some of your basic skills and/or upgrade your education. For further information please contact the Strathroy Adult Learning Centre.

Family Services Thames Valley

Family Service London has support, strategies, and suggestions that can make the difference between sinking and swimming.  Counselling for a variety of individual, family and relationship issues is available at the GAIN Centre for residents of Middlesex who are experiencing financial hardship which acts as a barrier to getting help they need.  This service is made possible with the funding support of the County of Middlesex.

Family Service Thames Valley Credit Counselling Program

Are you in crisis? Are your debts piling up? Not sure how to get out of debt? Credit Counselling London, in partnership with Family Service London and the County of Middlesex provides professional, confidential financial counselling at various locations throughout the County (available at the GAIN Centre).  This is available for residents of Middlesex who are having financial hardship which acts as a barrier to getting the help they need.
